Youth claim Plate in extraordinary final!

The Youth team finished the season in style - lifting the WWYL Plate after victory over neighbours Gowerton.  An amazing final ebbed and flowed several times before penalties were required to decide the outcome in favour of the Yellow and Greens.

Dunvant led in the first minute, thanks to Ben Chalk's fine finish but were behind after defensive mistakes allowed Gowerton to score two goals.  Chalk bagged his second, before the break, to tie the scores at the interval and goals from Cameron Davies, Liam Bennett and Davies again, saw Dunvant lead 5-3 with ten minutes remaining of the 90.  However a Gowerton goal and a 90th minute penalty meant that extra time was required to separate the teams.

Dunvant were dealt a serious blow, early in the added time, when Bennett was sent off for a hand-ball offence on his own goal-line.  However, Sam Williams brilliantly saved the resulting penalty and Dunvant took a 6-5 lead then Jonathan Bebb's frre-kick was fumbled, by the Gowerton keeper, into the path of Chalk who completed his hat-trick.  However, with seconds remaining, Gowerton again equalised through a cruel deflected strike.

The penalty shoot-out was a nervous affair with tired players asked to focus on glory one more time.  Bebb and Morgan Lucas both found the net comfortably, but Chalk, Davies and Lumsdaine all missed!
